I’m a sustainability consultant, project manager and strategist.
I help businesses and charities understand their environmental and social impact by working with them to report it, talk about it and improve it.
In a past life I was a qualified solicitor, but in 2012 I decided to focus solely on sustainability. Having started out in the retail sector, I now work with organisations across a range of sectors, unified by the desire to do business better.
I support businesses in the following ways:
Help set new sustainability targets or review the suitability of existing ones, and help organisations meet them.
Tailor communications to achieve maximum clarity and impact.
Manage collaboration between stakeholder groups - from a handful to hundreds - to ensure great ideas get delivered.
Freelance Sustainability Consultant
Current
My mission is to help organisations identify the actions they can take to put people and society at the heart of their business. The evidence is clear: companies that do so are not just better companies, they are more successful companies too.
My role is to support your business in achieving any element of that, whether it’s strategy development, reporting, communication, data measurement or data analysis.
Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd
2013 – 2019
As Senior Sustainability Manager, I managed the development of the Sainsbury’s Sustainability Plan including aligning the plan to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. I also worked on the development of Sainsbury’s sustainability strategy post-2020.
In a business as large as Sainsbury’s nothing can be achieved without collaboration - a crucial element of my role was working with internal stakeholders to deliver and communicate strategic projects across the whole Sustainability Plan.
What else?
I trained as a solicitor at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in the mid to late ‘00s - I learnt a huge amount about working hard and providing great service for clients, which still informs how I work today.
I’m also a ‘no dig’ gardening fanatic, and on a daily basis I salute Charles Dowding, the man behind the method. In 2021 I decided to make all my own clothes (rather than buy new). This has provided me with some unexpected revelations about style and the shape of the human body.
